Check Wi-Fi connection:
Ensure your Wi-Fi network is working correctly and that the Hive thermostat is within range. You may need to restart your router or move the thermostat closer.
Restart thermostat:
Remove the thermostat from the wall mount and reattach it. This simple reset can often restore the connection.
Check power source:
Make sure the thermostat has power. Replace batteries if it is battery-operated, or check the mains supply if hardwired.
Check Hive Hub:
Verify that the Hive Hub is powered on and connected to your router with an Ethernet cable. Restarting the Hub may resolve communication issues.
Update software:
Ensure the Hive thermostat, Hive Hub, and Hive app are all running the latest versions.
Reset thermostat:
If issues persist, reset the thermostat to factory settings following Hive’s official instructions.
Contact support:
If none of the above works, contact Hive customer support for further troubleshooting.
Placement issues:
Avoid installing the thermostat near sunlight, drafts, radiators, lamps, or heat-emitting appliances.
Calibration:
Some Hive models allow calibration adjustments to correct temperature discrepancies.
Nearby heat sources:
Ensure nothing warm is placed close to the thermostat, which can artificially raise readings.
Air circulation:
Make sure airflow around the thermostat is not blocked by furniture or objects.
Faulty sensor:
A malfunctioning internal sensor can cause high readings. Contact Hive support if suspected.
Software issues:
Update the Hive app and thermostat firmware to fix any known bugs affecting readings.
Environmental factors:
Natural temperature fluctuations from weather or heating patterns can sometimes influence sensor readings.
Green:
A steady green light indicates normal operation and a working connection to the Hive Hub or thermostat.
Red:
A red light suggests a problem, such as a lost connection or system fault. Check wiring, Hub connection, and the thermostat.
Flashing Green:
This indicates the receiver is in pairing mode and attempting to connect to the Hub or thermostat.
No Light:
No light usually means the receiver has no power or has failed. Check the fused spur or power supply.
Check power:
Ensure both the thermostat and boiler have power. Replace batteries if applicable.
Reset thermostat:
Resetting can clear faults and restore communication. Follow the manufacturer’s reset instructions.
Check Wi-Fi connection:
If your system uses Wi-Fi, ensure the thermostat is connected to the network and within range.
Re-pair devices:
If the thermostat communicates wirelessly, you may need to re-pair it with the boiler receiver. Follow Hive’s pairing instructions.
Check boiler settings:
Ensure the boiler is configured correctly for external control. Consult the boiler manual if unsure.
Test functionality:
Adjust the thermostat temperature and confirm the boiler responds accordingly.
Troubleshooting:
If issues persist, consult the manuals or contact customer support for further assistance.
Check power supply:
Ensure the boiler is powered on and no fuses or circuits have tripped.
Thermostat settings:
Verify the thermostat is in heating mode and set above the current room temperature.
Check batteries:
Low or dead batteries in the thermostat can interrupt communication.
Wireless connection:
Make sure the thermostat is correctly paired with the boiler receiver and that signals are not obstructed.
Receiver/control unit:
Check wiring, power, and error lights on the receiver. A fault here can prevent boiler activation.
Boiler settings:
Ensure the boiler is set up to accept commands from an external thermostat.
Obstructions or blockages:
Objects or walls can interfere with wireless signals. Reposition devices if needed.
Reset devices:
Resetting both the thermostat and boiler can often resolve communication problems.
Professional inspection:
If issues persist, a qualified heating engineer should inspect the system to diagnose deeper faults.

5 star review for Prime plumbing and heating. We had a really old boiler system that needed replacement. We used the Worcester Bosch ( WB) fast track service to have a local WB accredited engineer come out and do a survey and provide a quote. We were lucky enough to be allocated Prime Plumbing and Heating and Ricky came out to look things over. He spent about 20-30 minutes reviewing our boiler and advising us on our options. He really knows what he’s talking about and is so professional and also a really nice chap, we felt in capable hands and so it proved. The team he sent out to do the work were all excellent, they worked so hard over 3 days and were all highly skilled and very courteous and professional. Their work was very clean and tidy. In our experience Prime Plumbing and Heating provided a service that exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much to the whole team.Posted on Google![]()
